Look Out for the Battle of Handheld Game Consoles!

The battle that is going on in the world of handheld game console is really an interesting one, with different companies coming up with different models and upgrades. Let us look at some of the outstanding events in this industry. It is important to note that a handheld game console today is more than just a video game console. These devices are comprehensive portable multimedia devices with different functions including audio editing, storage for music, photos, movies, TV shows, and so much more. These days they are meant for superior entertainment.

Earlier on, the Nintendo’s Game Boy was known to be the ultimate in handheld game devices. When Sony came in with its first portable console, Nintendo started facing a serious competitions and the battle has been on since then. Sony started making a name for itself in the world that has been dominated by Nintendo with the release of its PSP in the year 2003. Immediately after the release of PSP, Sony came up with another PSP in 2000 known as PSP Slim or PSP 2000. This was followed by the PSP 3000 and the PSP Go.

Of course, Nintendo is not a coward, despite the stiff competition; it came up with the Nintendo DS in the year 2004. It features a touch screen, and a foldable device with two screens. Since then, Nintendo has been coming up with other innovative gaming devices that have different features including cameras. Other gaming devices from Nintendo include the DS Lite, which has a lighter and better screen display, Nintendo DSi came next. DSi is a thinner device compared to the other devices from Nintendo. The Nintendo DSi XL became the hit later on. It came with a larger screen and it is similar in functions and features with the DSi model.

Sony later announced the release of the much anticipated Sony NGP. It will come with some great features that will place it above the models from Nintendo or even Sony’s past Playstation Portable series of products. The Sony NGP will be stealing the show from the other gaming devices with all its superior features.
