Sony NGP to be renamed to PS Vita
Supposed you’ve heard about the latest rumor about the renaming of Sony NGP to “PS Vita”. In case you haven’t heard, well, the PSP successor, which Sony has before codenamed as “NGP” (Next Generation Portable) is rumored to be named as “PS Vita” instead. No, not Vista, it’s VITA. In Latin it means “life”, so it’s basically.. PS Life, something like that. Yeah, I know, the name’s quite random.
It is also rumored that this name will be the final name for the product. I still can’t grasp the whole idea of the name though. Man, I thought “NGP” sounds so much cooler, no? PS Vita just sounds like MS Vista to me, you know that friend of yours that always gives you blue screen of death and memory dump errors. Now I hope PS Vita won’t be giving us black screen of death.
Other than that, Sony is also rumored to downgrade some of NGP’s.. I mean PS Vita’s features and specs in order to lower its price. This is so that the device could compete with its main competitor Nintendo 3DS.
Check out PS Vita’s picture on the top above (notice the name “PS Vita” at the top left corner of the picture). Now we don’t know how true the whole rumor is, but let’s hope that such a cool gaming device won’t have such an odd name. Let’s wait for E3 2011 and see what’s gonna happen.
