Could Sony NGP Compete with Xperia Play?

August 30th, 2011 Posted in PSP2 NGP, Sony NGP, Xperia Play

With the launch of two mind blowing handheld gaming consoles by Sony in the same year of 2011—the upcoming Sony NGP, set to be released later this year, and the already-launched Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, a mobilephone that is also a gaming device—many start to question, which one is the best gaming console to get for themselves. Comparing Xperia Play with the NGP is like comparing apples with oranges. The Xperia play is a smart gaming phone while the NGP is a successor of the already popular gaming device Sony PSP.

The Xperia Play allows you to play Android games. The Xperia Play has 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor; 4 inches touch screen, 5 mega pixel camera and 3G support. The Xperia Play is more like a gaming smartphone and is quite underpowered by the NGP. But with an Xperia Play as your portable gaming device and also mobilephone, you don’t need to carry two separate devices in your pocket anymore!

NGP is more powerful as a gaming device than Xperia Play and have Quad-core processor. It has 5-inches touch screen, dual cameras and analog thumb sticks. It allows enjoying varieties of games. But the only problem is that NGP will be a lot more expensive than Xperia Play.

Of course you will not be carrying both NGP and Xperia Play with you at the same time. Xperia Play will be the best option for you if you don’t want to be carrying too many things around at the same time. NGP is the best choice for the people who only want to have a device that is dedicated only to gaming. More likely once Sony NGP is launched it will take the current market share from the Xperia Play. We’ll wait and see.
